Karnataka, the part of the Southern India is a heavenly abode of magnificent monuments, standing majestically from ages. The architecture of the monuments is breathtakingly beautiful and grand. From Dravidian architecture to Vijayanagara style of architecture, From elaborate pillars of Chalukyas to minute stone carvings by Krishnadevaraya, each monument has a different tale to tell. From tall, intricately carved gopurams to majestic pillars and life-sized shrines, these Karnataka temples are rich in legend and stunning in their grandeur.
Religiously eminent temples of Lord Muktinath (Parshuram) are known as Mukti Shetras. The 7 famous mukti shetras Kukke Subrahmanya, Kodeshwara, Kumbashi, Udupi, Kollur, Gokarna, and Shankaranarayana together make Parshuram Khsetra called seven Parashurama Kshetra or Muktistala of Karnataka. These holy places are compared with seven holy places in Rama Kshetra, namely, Ayodhya, Mathura, Maya, Kashi, Kanchi, Avanthika and Puri. Parashurama, after the annihilation of Kshatriyas, donated the land he conquered to Sage Kashyap. He then claimed the land of Konkan by fighting with the sea god Varuna. When the land in the western coast of India was overcome by the sea, Parashurama fought back, challenging Varuna to release the area of Konkan and Malabar. During their fight, Parashurama threw his axe into the sea and took back the land. All of these shrines are cradled in the picturesque Western Ghats in the coastal region of Karnataka. The religious importance of these temples makes it a great place to visit for the spiritual people and history buffs.
Visiting the magnificent and tranquil temples in these sites is termed as the major highlight of the trip to the Mukti Shetras in Karnataka. Book our Customized Karnataka Mukti Kshetra Temple Tour Package and get soaked in spirituality and serenity at the same time!
