Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage site which is located on the banks of the Tungabhadra River in east-central Karnataka was the capital of the Vijayanagara Empire. It is a historian’s riddle, and a pilgrim’s delight is a small yet beautiful temple town surrounded by ancient ruins and a myriad of things to enjoy. The iconic Chariot, the image of which can be seen on a 50 rupee note in Indian Currency, needs no introduction. A vast area of ruins, a live temple, a Lotus temple, and many more heritage sites in the compound makes Hampi the most visited monument in Karnataka.
Hampi is the most famous place where they can experience ancient temples and stone monuments overlooking the rice paddy fields. This place has a lot of boulders, where you can go for bouldering and take hikes along the place where you will get to witness the most beautiful sunrise and sunsets. The major attractions at Hampi include Virupaksha Temple, Ugranarsimha Vigraha, Lotus Palace, Vittala Temple, and much more. The 7th century Virupaksha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva with gigantic Gopuram is the highlight of Hampi. The other attractions include Sasive Kalu Ganesha, Kadale Kalu Ganesha, Anegundi, Vijaya Vittala Temple, and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Zoological Park.
Badami is the capital of mighty Chalukyas from 540 to 757 AD, is a popular historical place which was formerly known as Vatapi, is an ancient site located in the Bagalkot district of Karnataka. It is famous for its stone and rock architecture, The structures are made from red sandstone which surrounds Agastya Lake. Badami is famous for cave temples, fortresses, fine carvings, wonderful architecture and breathtaking views. Besides Badami Caves, Badami Fort, Boothnatha Temple, Banashankari Temple, Agastya Lake & Mallikarjuna Temple.
Pattadakal and Aihole in Karnataka, India are historically famous as the cradle of Hindu temple architecture. Badami Chalukyas monuments are located at Pattadakal, Aihole and Badami. Aihole has been called the cradle of Indian architecture and has over 125 temples and monuments built between 450 and 1100 BC. Feel the rich heritage and legends of the iconic Chalukya Empire come alive. Pattadakal, a UNESCO World Heritage site which rests on the left bank of the Malaprabha River. This historic place was once the capital of the Chalukya dynasty.
